Generally in this period end-of-year budgets are made.
Ibiza By Night, on the other hand, wants to reflect on the year to come.
2025 will be a year of great news and also of great challenges for Ibiza.
The main news is the opening of [UNVRS], yet another marvel from Yann Pissenem : let’s get ready to see something never seen before, but very beautiful.
But this opening, inevitably, is intertwined with the main challenge for Isla. To function, the clubs must fill up, and perhaps the time has come to “bring” people back to the island for longer.
The real challenge is precisely this.
Triumphalistic articles from “compliant” local newspapers that talk about “increased landings at Ibiza airport” fail to give a very important detail.
How long does the average stay of tourists on the island last?
We tell you, because we spoke with hundreds of people: the stay of tourists on the island has decreased drastically.
Those who stayed in Ibiza for a week now stay for two/three days maximum. Last year we saw dozens of times guys who arrived on Friday morning, partied on Friday afternoon in the cult club of Playa d’en Bossa, continued at night in other clubs and took the plane to go home the next morning.
The reason is very clear: prices in Ibiza have grown in an exaggerated and unmotivated manner.
Unmotivated because in many structures there is no proportion between quality of service and price. It is not possible that a notoriously modest hotel in Playa d’en Bossa would charge more than 300 euros per night for a room in August 2024, when until a couple of years ago you could book an entire week for 450/500 euros. Hitting and driving away “middle class” tourism from Ibiza is a serious and structural mistake.Just as it is absurd, but this is an old problem, that many Ibizan structures are unable to find adequate staff due to the shortage and the absurd costs of housing rent for workers.2025 will be a beautiful year full of surprises for Ibiza, with wonderful parties and probably a “big” return. But it will also be a year with important challenges, which perhaps we should start tackling seriously.
Also because things are going well, but “not everything is going well“.
We conclude wishing a fantastic 2025 from Steve Massa & the Ibiza By Night family!
