Clubbers at Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza helped to protect 5000 acres of rainforest this summer by ‘Dancing For One Meter’ and supporting rainforest conservation project D41M.
This season, the hedonistic island frequented by global clubbers has taken part in something profound. By having fun and dancing at Hï Ibiza and Ushuaïa this summer, clubbers have helped protect an area of 5,000 acres of rainforest from deforestation, an area similar in size to a third of Manhattan island.
Ricardo Porteus a previous director at the Pacha Group and co-founder of ‘Dance For One Meter’ joined forces with Yann Pissenem the CEO and founder of award-winning nightlife organisation The Night League, the team responsible for both Ushuaïa Ibiza and Hï Ibiza to launch ‘#D41M – Dance For One Meter’ In 2019 Clubbers purchasing tickets for Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza contributed to the #D41M campaign. The non-profit organisation distributes 100% of the money collected directly to Rainforest Protection partners.
Ricardo Porteus says ‘Its a direct positive impact on our environment and helps mitigate climate change, DJ’s including David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren, Black Coffee and Luciano events at Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza this summer have had sell-out crowds and the uptake on direct climate action by the clubbers has been super impressive, thank you’
Yann Pissenem says: “It’s an honour to be part of such an important and worthwhile project. Deforestation is one of the biggest environmental issues facing the planet and to be able to partner with the D41M team has been incredible. Being able to harness the power of clubbing in Ibiza and technology to make a difference on a global scale is something we are so proud to be involved with.
On Tuesday 9th October the IPCC announced we have 12 years to reduce 1.5 degrees or we cross the tipping point in climate change. Rainforests deforestation accounts for up to 30% of all CO2 emissions. We are calling all clubbers and promoters globally to have fun with us and save Rainforest at the same time. Please join us now and connect your event at dancefor1m.com.
