We have several friends around the world that like to share with us their experiences. Today we publish a report by our friend Gian Luca Piccinini that made us a present talking about an event truly intriguing: Koh Phangan, in Thailand.
“The “Full moon party” in the remote island of Koh-Phangan in Thailand has been running and growing for 26 years, and has become so attractive that someone defined the island as the Southern Asia Ibiza equivalent, despite being so far from our shining and beloved island.
Koh-Phangan and their events are still largely unknown and are a far cry from the commercial circuits that attract mass media attention. You may be surprised, there is no familiar fast food or international brand around!
The next scheduled party will be December 31th and it will coincide with NYE, and as such, we are expecting an incredible number of visitors attending it.
The Full Moon Party is raw, hosted on a beach almost 1km long, offering dozens of bars with their own music, from minimal techno to Goa trance. Clubbers from around the world gather here also to enjoy the numerous side events in the days before and after the party. One of them “the jungle party”, offers natural scenography where tribal and raw instincts are truly awaked.
For those lucky enough to attend this party, we urge you to be vigilant regarding your personal safety. I strong recommend that you check that the bottle they are serving to you is closed and that you watch out for spiking. There are also official warnings about this. It is not so much drinks and drugs that draw in clubbers and the big names in the techno scene. It is actually the strong and raw energy that characterizes the event that lies behind its magnetism.
The entry is free, but the overall cost can be quite expensive if you go to the event unprepared and unguided. The cost of transfers and the hotel rates alone can exceed even the most generous budgets.“
