Back to ignite the UK live music scene, DIY community festival Hoodstock is set to return on 1st September at Colour Factory, London. Expect a full-throttle, immersive experience laid across three stages as the mixed-bill lineup unites moshers and ravers in what is fast-becoming London’s most-electrifying one day event.
Hoodstock announced the first wave line-up for their third inaugural event. Expect raucous sets from the likes of genre-defying Kid Bookie, ferocious rock trio Island Of Love, West London punk troupe Chubby and The Gang, alternative rock band Middleman and punk outfit The Chisel.
Hoodstock regulars cyberdrill trio Anti-Net and shoegaze ambient band micromoon are also set to return alongside a lineup comprised of psychedelic enigma Onoe Caponoe, South-london underground rapper Sinn6r and North-london ‘dysfunctional’ rapper and visual artist Taliable.
Speaking on the announcement Hoodstock founder Ben Spence said –
“This year’s Hoodstock is our biggest one yet. We wanted to put one night together showing off all our favourite artists and raise as much money for the fund as possible. We’ve worked with over 40 young artists so far off the back of last year’s fundraising, help us work with more and give London’s young people the chance to shape their culture.”
First held to give thanks to a community that united to rebuild the much-loved East London hub Fuzzbrain Studios after it burned down, Hoodstock rose from the ashes. The now annual festival helmed by studio owner Ben Spence also of micromoon and rising alt talent Deijuvhs brings together an eclectic lineup of names from hardcore to rap and beyond. Keeping the DIY ethos at their core, the festival continues to enrich the community with proceeds from ticket sales going to the Hoodstock Fund to offset young people’s studio and recording costs, ensuring they can continue to shape culture in the city.
Keeping community at their core, today also sees Hoodstock announce their partnership with Earth Agency to organise a brunch to bring 8 young people from the city together with industry professionals to expand their network and learn from their expertise. The brunch is set to feature names including the revered tastemaker and DJ Jamz Supernova alongside professionals from Festival Republic, Broadwick Live, Amigos Live, NinjaTune, Arts Council and more tbc.
Spence added on the brunch –
“The Earth brunch at Hoodstock this year is the perfect compliment to the work we’ve done with the fund. Earth Agency have put together an amazing panel of industry professionals who are providing a crucial pathway into the music industry for a group of young people selected by us. In a way the fund is providing the resources to artists and the brunch provides a network for young people to build and grow their work.”
With more names still set to be added to this year’s line-up, the 2023 event promises to be bigger and better than ever. So, save the date!
