When the Covid -19 emergency ends, a different season will begin in Ibiza.
Perhaps many have not understood the new reality of things.
Or maybe many pretend they don’t want to understand.
Some of the most important discos will not reopen, and many others will reopen with occasional activities. Let’s start from a certain fact: Ibiza without discos and its fantastic parties is like a strip bar without lap dancers.
Ibiza for the 2020 season will have to reinvent itself. And here the problem arises.
In recent years in Ibiza we have witnessed a systematic speculation on prices: the costs of the island were not absolutely adequate for the services offered.
Already in the last two years there has been a drop in tourism, but the lesson seems to have failed.
Many people accepted exaggerated prices just because Ibiza offered a unique fun opportunity… non for the beaches, for the sea, for the sunsets, that you can find in many other beautiful venues…
In 2020 the party life will be extremely reduced compared to before, many people will have fewer financial resources as a result of the Covid-19 and we do not know how many of these will want to face the costs of a holiday in Ibiza. These tourists must be respected, not plucked.
Do you know why? In Ibiza the beaches and the sea remain which are very beautiful: but perhaps in Ibiza many people do not know that in Spain, Italy, France, Greece and Croatia there are many other places with beaches and a beautiful sea. And they cost much less than Ibiza.
We don’t talk about clubbing… but just about the potential costs of Ibiza 2020…
Last night we did some research on the web: renting a utility car in August can cost 65 euros per day. A shame. Some restaurants still have very high prices and are not adequate to their actual standard.
Not to mention the costs of air flights or what is required for overnight stays.
This pricing policy is insane, and threatens to permanently compromise the season.
Ladies and gentlemen, it must be clear: it is time to lower prices in Ibiza, at all levels.
If you want to try to save a season that has already been partially compromised, the island must become economically accessible again.
Otherwise, as has often happened in recent years, Croatia, peninsular Spain, Greece, Italy, Malta will be happy to celebrate these umpteenth strategic errors in Ibiza.
