Are you planning to rent an apartment in Ibiza for summer 2020? Here you have some useful suggestions…
Many people already contacted us asking for suggestions about ‘when’ and ‘where’ to rent an apartment in Ibiza for summer 2020.
So we decided to repost a previous article with more details.
First of all the team of Ibiza by Night doesn’t provide any Real Estate service and doesn’t rent apartments.
Just to be clear and not to create misunderstandings!
We just like to support our readers and our community, because of in summer 2019, we heard about many ‘bad’ experiences regarding the business of Real Estate in Ibiza. Several people arrived in Ibiza and couldn’t find the apartment they had rented. In most of the cases the “mediator” (who had already received some money in advance) had disappeared, or –and this is more frequent- they found the apartments completely different from the pictures…
Summer 2020 in Ibiza is not far away, and many of you are already dreaming of the white island…
Do you think to rent an apartment by just finding a website… or a FB profile?
This could be really a fatal mistake!!!
Our suggestion is still the same: please, pay a lot of attention!
A premise: in Ibiza there are many honest and professional Real Estate agencies and agents, but there are also a small number of dangerous scammers.
The first, and most important piece of advice: contact ONLY agencies or agents that can prove to exist and to operate on the Island.
Please check that they have an office, an existing address, a registred company!
You should also check beforehand that they have all the correct licenses and titles required by Spanish law. Also, of course, check that they have a good reputation (practical suggestion: in Ibiza Facebook groups you can find useful information & the feedbacks)!
If you didn’t manage to find these basic requirements, well… there is a high possibility that the beautiful apartment on the pictures doesn’t exist in reality… so pay a lot of attention!
And now another frequent question: where to choose an apartment or an hotel? Please choose an apartment (or an hotel) according to your interests on the white island.
Firstly you must have a clear idea of what ‘type’ of vacation you want. Are you a clubber? Are you on holidays with a family & kids? Do you like just the nature & the beaches? These are details that make the difference!
For example, if you like the sea, the beaches, the chill and quiet areas, such locations as Es Canar, Santa Eularia, the Northern part of Ibiza, would be truly interesting.
But, if you are a clubber, and you want to go several times to cult venues as Pacha, Amnesia, Ushuaïa Ibiza & Hï Ibiza we suggest to choose an apartment or an hotel not so far.
Other locations are at least a 25-30 minutes drive each way (slightly less from Santa Eularia), and the internal streets of Ibiza are not easy to travel, especially at night. Don’t forget, especially during the night, the police does many checks with alcohol and drug tests (just to be clear).
So choose an area where you will spend your holidays using our suggestions, otherwise you will spend a lot of money for cabs or you will waste half of your holiday driving…
Finally, never forget: Ibiza is not a cheap island.
If you want to rent an apartment or a villa in a good place, it will have the appropriate cost, and it won’t be cheap: if the price is cheap …well pay a lot of attention.
And then, the last suggestion: it’s important that you rent directly from people that are actually based on the island, not using agencies out of the island. In this case you will simply pay double commission. 90% of the time, this agency (or agent) is just a sub-Agent that will contact someone else in Ibiza, and you will pay a hidden extra fee.
So, take heed of these suggestions…and, because of our island is such a fantastic place, organize a great and unforgettable Summer 2020 in Ibiza!
Don’t forget: the rental of apartments is under Spanish law, actually the apartment rentals is forbidden in many buildings and the law must be respected.
The team of Ibiza By Night wishes to say many thanks to our friends Emma Manley & Juliana T. for the editing!
