This is an important day for the White Island: Pacha Group has announced its immersion in a new green era. After the global plastic free month, the company has informed about its commitment with Ibiza, the environmental and the planet in a press conference this morning.
According to Nick McCabe, CEO of Pacha Group, “We want to announce the arrival of a new era and our commitment to the environment. Our goal is to gradually remove all the plastic items of a single use within the Pacha Group”.
The company announces the development of three key initiatives: Firstly, a concrete action consisting in the withdrawal of single use plastic straws – in all facilities and premises operated by the Pacha Group – Pacha Ibiza, Lío Ibiza, Destino Pacha Resort and Hotel Pacha, effectively eliminating 300,000 units this year alone. In addition, single use plastic cutlery, laundry bags, drink stirrers and take away plastic containers among others have been removed.
In this manner, Pacha Group is officially certified by the “Ibiza and Formentera Plastic Free” movement, promoted by the Foundation for the Conservation of Ibiza and Formentera (IPF).
Our aim is to gradually phase out all single use plastic elements within the Pacha Group by 2023 effectively aligning with the Plastic Free policy
Secondly, future and commitment to the sustainability of the island – McCabe continues – we have pledged 15,000 euros to the Marine Forum of Ibiza and Formentera, taking place in September. An inter sectoral collaboration to study and analize the real situation of the Balearic Islands waters and the conservation of our sea”.
The company has also presented an ecological initiative with “NextBike Ibiza” in collaboration with Sagalés. Starting this month, Pacha Group will be the official sponsor offering 300 bicycles for public use in the port of Ibiza. The intention is to support the process of decarbonization of the environment through a concept of shared urban mobility.
Finally, Nick McCabe concludes, “Pacha Group today presents a firm and determined commitment to contribute our grain of sand to a green.
